Where Wishes
Do Come True!
The largest
dog show on the West Coast and a doggone good time!
San Diego, CA - (May 2007) - Starting Friday, July 6, 2007, the Del Mar
Horsepark will be transformed into a doggie playground, when an estimated 1,500
dogs will compete in an array of entertaining and thrilling events in the three
day doggie-extravaganza, Wags for Wishes.
In its 5th year, the San
Diego chapter of the Make-A-Wish foundation’s annual
event, Wags for Wishes is the largest and most comprehensive dog show on the
West coast that attracts pet lovers from across the country. All proceeds for the one-of-a-kind event will
be used to grant the wishes to children who are battling life-threatening
medical conditions; last year a record-breaking $150,000 was raised to make it
possible for more than 24 San Diego
“wish kids” to have their wishes granted.
This
year, dogs of all kinds and their owners will compete in events including
agility, herding, flyball, lure coursing, carting, disc dogs, dock dogs, Jack
Russell Terrier events, obedience and conformation. There will also be dozens
of pet-related vendors and a pet adoption area.
Wags
for Wishes takes place July 6-8 and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on all
three days. The event is open to the public and non-competing dogs are also
welcome, as long as they are on their best behavior and on a leash. Admission is $5 and free for children age 12
and under. Parking at the Horsepark is $8.
