Special Guest Speaker Judge Julia Kelety speaking on "Judicial Independence."
MCLE Credit: 1 hour general participatory credit
About the speaker. Judge Kelety clerked for the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit after graduating from Cornell Law School in 1985. She then practiced law for Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in New York. In 1990 she moved to San Diego where she worked as a federal prosecutor in the US Attorney’s Office. After seven years as a prosecutor, Ms. Kelety turned her talents to practicing estate planning law and became involved more heavily with the Lawyers Club. She was appointed to the bench in 2003 and her first assignment was in juvenile dependency court, hearing cases about abused or neglected children. In 2007, Judge Kelety was assigned a general criminal trial calendar. Currently, utilizing her estate planning background, Judge Kelety is assigned to probate court.
All Law Week events are FREE and open to the public. Pre-registration is required only for Guest Speaker events. Call the hosting Library branch to register.
