Spaces are still available for poker tournament participants; $100 “buy-ins” provide players with a set of chips, and prizes will be awarded to the top three players to garner the most chips at the end of the evening. Additional “buy-ins” are available. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m., and the tournament starts play at 7 p.m. The event also includes a no-host cocktail reception and silent auction from 6 -7 p.m. Among the more than 15 uniquely inspired auction items are a Sammy Hagar-autographed guitar and bottle of Cabo Wabo Tequila, two tickets to the upcoming, sold-out U. S. Open Golf Championship at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, a private VIP suite for 22 people at Petco Park and many more. All proceeds will benefit EIS, one of the country’s premier “hands-on” science enrichment programs for children. EIS has been offering science and technology learning opportunities in the community since 1964, and the organization serves more than 700 San Diego children each year.
