Light The Night is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual fundraising walking campaign to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. Each fall, teams of friends, families and co-workers gather in cities and towns across America. They walk in twilight, holding illuminated balloons - white for survivors and red for supporters. More than a walk, the evening includes music, food and family activities.
Why is this even important?
More than 747,000 Americans have leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Every five minutes, someone new is diagnosed. Every 10 minutes someone dies.
As a nonprofit, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society relies on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations to fund its lifesaving research and patient information and support programs. The Society meets the Better Business Bureau standards for charitable accountability.
The Light the Night Walk will be held this year on Saturday October 14, 2006 6:00PM at Southwestern College in Chula Vista and on Saturday November 4, 2006 5:00PM at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar.
